Speaker #1:
Colin Wallis spent ten years working for ClubCorp in the golf resort and hospitality industry. During his tenure at ClubCorp, he was instrumental in the success of a not-for-profit endeavor called the Partners Assistance Fund. He also spent two years as the Director of Development for Communities In Schools - Central Texas before joining the Lance Armstrong Foundation in 2004 (www.livestrong.org). As Director of Advancement for the LAF, he has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars through face-to-face asks, grassroots fundraising, and events of all shapes and sizes.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation believes that in your battle with cancer, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. The Foundation focuses its attention on public health, education, research, and advocacy initiatives that impact the lives of the more than 10 million cancer survivors alive today in the United States.
Sharing the same passion for survivorship as Lance, and a similar love of athletics, Colin has participated in over 20 marathons and 3 Ironman triathlons around the world. He has used a variety of these events as a platform to raise money and awareness for various cancer-related organizations. The last six years he has served as a volunteer pace group leader to help first-time marathoners reach their individual goals at the Austin Marathon. His passion for making a difference in the cancer world stems from many brushes with the disease. He lost both sets of grandparents, an uncle, and an aunt to cancer and his brother, father and mother are all cancer survivors.
Colin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a dedicated member of the Austin community. He regularly volunteers for events that raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. He sits on the Town Lake Trail Foundation board, is a former board member of the Davis Mountains Fitness and Training Camp and sits on the Leadership Circle for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
Speaker #2:
After receiving a bachelor's degree in Communication from The University of Texas at Austin Adam began his career as a creative staffer at GSD&M advertising. During his seven-years there he penned award-winning campaigns for the United States Airforce, Kinko's, Southwest Airlines, and numerous Brinker restaurant concepts.
Roy Spence, GSD&M founder, calls him "a big idea guy with a sixth sense for what is right on a given brand."
Adam launched the Butler Bros. in 2002. His company provides strategic and creative development services and houses a Brand Films division, which is the production arm extension of the Butler Bros creative department.
He and his brother have constructed a company culture that respects life-work balance as much as it does a great idea. They are the rare agency where vacations are encouraged, weekends are not company time, and contributions are made to team member IRA's each time they commute to work by bicycle.
His companies' focus on the cultivation of people expands to his business model where his company effectively operates a hub and spoke system that gives his clients access to the world-class strategic and creative talent without the associated overhead. Clients that have benefited from this model include American Legacy Foundation, High Fashion Home, The Lance Armstrong Foundation, and Sweet Leaf Tea.
His firm seeks relationships with brands that can "tell the truth". Companies who are addressing the triple bottom line in their practices and principles fit this profile.
Adam is a volunteer with Hospice Austin and donates his company's time to organizations like the Austin Children's Museum, Sunshine Community Gardens and the Boy Scouts of America.
