Serving as a key member of Yahoo!’s management team, Allen Olivo joined Yahoo! in January 2006 and is the vice president of Global Brand Marketing. In his current role, with over 25 years of extensive experience in the industry, Allen is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Yahoo!’s advertising and brand marketing strategy worldwide.
Prior to Yahoo!, Allen served as vice president of marketing for the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGate.com, responsible for the overall marketing direction for both the newspaper and its on-line properties.
In 2000, Allen was the chief marketing officer for Robertson Stephens, a leading technology investment bank, where he oversaw all worldwide marketing functions including advertising, public relations, equity research and corporate events, creative services, and the company’s philanthropic efforts.
Prior to Robertson Stephens, Allen served as vice president of corporate marketing for Amazon.com, where he helped to establish the company as one of the world’s premier consumer Internet brands. In his role there, he oversaw the corporate brand globally, as well as all advertising, public relations, corporate identity and marketing communications initiatives. He also contributed to the company's market penetration in Europe and Japan and helped to establish Amazon’s marketing infrastructure, policies and staffing. During his tenure, the company’s worldwide customer base tripled to over 13 million.
Allen also served in a number of various senior level positions at Apple Computer from 1994-99 and 2001-03 including senior director of retail marketing and senior director of marketing communications. In these roles, Allen was responsible for Apple’s worldwide advertising and public relations efforts, website and online communications, packaging, collateral, direct marketing and retail marketing strategy. Allen was one of the original architects of the "Think Different" campaign and also led the global launch and integration of the highly acclaimed iMac campaign.
Additionally, Allen was the executive director of marketing communications for Pacific Telesis and Pacific Bell and worked on the agency side of the industry for many years with various consumer, financial and political clients.
During his career, Allen has been honored and recognized for his work in the industry through highly acclaimed awards such as the Gold Lions, Effie’s, Clio’s, Andy’s, Cable Car and Belding awards. Allen received his BA in Communications from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire
